 "KICK-a-BEAR...

I first uttered the word “Kick-a-Bear” roughly, guessing, yet precisely (because I actually traced the calendar back), to September 17, 1989. Entering the south side of La Farge WI., after playing a gig with the Eric Nofsinger Band (Country Class 1989-1995), I thought that the area where the Kickapoo River meets Bear Creek would be a great place for a campground.  I was quickly informed that nothing could occupy that area because it was in “the flood plain”.  However, I stated that it could have been called

...KRO-KAY"

I first uttered the words “Kick-a-Bear Croquet” on April 13, 2007 when my wife (Virginia) and I were camping @  Chapparal Campground outside of Wonewoc, WI., (which is my High School Alma-mater by the way - however Union Center will always be my home).  We had just got done playing a game of croquet when I realized that there were a total of nine hoops in the game.  Nine hoops, nine ‘Holes’, just like the golf course that was in my back-back yard as a kid (in Union Center).  My 1st thought: “I’m gonna design a croquet golf course and call it ‘Kick-a-Bear Kro-kay’ (croquet); if I only had a place to put it!!!"

THE PERMISSION PROCESS

Shortly after, came the floods of 2007, and then, 2008, and the damage that occurred, I focused on the properties involved; particularly the corner of South Silver & West Snow Streets (right out my front door).  Fast forward to 2011 when the property buyout was complete.  I’d been staring @ said property for some 5+ years now.  The La Farge Village Board was seeking advise on how to utilize some of the flood plain property, so I prepared a PowerPoint presentation and proposed my idea of a miniature golf course designed to play the game of croquet.  The motion passed, so I began the process of constructing my ‘vision’ of...

 KICK-a-BEAR Kro-kay @ said location.

CONCLUSION

I have had this course designed ‘on paper’ since, 10:16 pm, July 27, 2010

(I documented the course layout).

Using all of the dates listed above; as of this day,

June 6, 2021

the day when KICK-a-BEAR is Finally Released to the Public via pricelessandpureproductions (pending),

it has been 31 years, 9 months and 15 days since I first uttered the words “Kick-a-Bear”, and 14 years, 1 month and  23 days since I first uttered the words “KICK-a-BEAR Kro-kay”.

With all of this being said, although I have no signage for Kick-a-Bear on the premises as of yet, the course has been open to the public since 2016.

I do invite one-and-all to come and explore the newest game sensation since the ball itself, KICK-a-BEAR Kro-kay, “Where the Game of GOLF meets the game of CROQUET!!!”, SW of the Zzip Stop, our ‘only’ gas station, on the corner of South Silver & West Snow Streets in Historic La Farge, WI.
